Bright Beginnings Family Stability & Success Program
Bright Beginnings’ Family Stability & Success Program promotes family stability and success. Family self-sufficiency is viewed as a continuum beginning with school success for children and continuing with a variety of life-skills education for adult family members.
This program encourages children, and adults, to achieve their full potential. Individualized services range from homework assistance, and subject specific tutoring to FCAT preparation for children and improving employability skills and financial literacy skills for adults.
Success for School Aged Children:
- Tutoring and Homework Assistance for Grades K – 8th
- FCAT preparation during the months of January through March
- Summer Program for 3rd – 5th Graders
- Includes interactive games; arts and crafts; the evidence based and NREPP approved drug and violence prevention curriculum “Too Good For Drugs and Violence”; and teaches children about financial literacy through WEDU’s BizKids program and Rob Sansome’s Kids Wealth curriculum
- College Preparation for older students through the Hillsborough County Education Foundation
Building Life Skills for Adults:
- Computer Classes for Basic and Intermediate Levels
- Classes offered in English and Spanish languages
- Programs can include Email, Internet, Word, Excel, Power Point
- Employability Workshops covering all aspects of Employability including:
- Assessing your Skills; Writing a Winning Resume and Cover Letter; Job Search Essentials; Interviewing Skills; Dressing the Part and Keeping the Job through Effective Communication
- One-on-one consultations, in English and Spanish languages, are available to anyone who successfully completes an Employability workshop
- Financial Literacy Workshops, topics are chosen via community needs and suggestions
- The Prosperity Campaign’s Income Tax Preparation and Assistance during the months of January through April 15th
The Family Stability & Success Program is funded locally, by The Children’s Board of Hillsborough County.
